About Us

History

The Yale Undergraduate Ethics Bowl organization was founded in 2017 by Emily Xu (‘21), Emilie Kilfoil (‘21), and Charlotte Kavaler (‘21) as a way to discuss important moral and philosophical issues in an engaging debate format. The nationally-ranked team has competed annually in the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl competition hosted by the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics.

In response to growing student interest and engagement with ethics outside of the Bowl, the Yale Undergraduate Society of Ethics was formed by Ethics Bowl co-presidents Edward Seol (24’), Gabe Ransom (24’), and Jarron Long (23’) in 2023 as an umbrella organization dedicated to promoting discussions on real-world issues from an ethical standpoint.
